The Blue Whale

I feel as though I know you,

Hanging there,

With the biggest smile in Christendom.

Did you know I fell in love,

Standing there, with someone special,

Looking up at your ample belly?

So what have you got to smile about?

Did you send coded messages

Through the deep and vast ocean

To some far distant mate?

And when she arrived,

Did you dance with joy,

Waving your massive tail

In the Pacific sunlight?

I hope so.

For I come to see you often

And I think of you as happy

Though your friends have oft been murdered

For the price of a candle.

I shall never know how you fared in the vasty deep

But I shall never forget you
